[ROLLING HEADLINE]: Apple (AAPL) updates from WWDC 2022 event
M2 CHIP:
- Introduces M2 silicon chip; says M2 chip has 18% better performance than previous chip and will be used in Mac computers.
- M2 chip gets 87% better peak performance than 12-core laptop chips from other makers with a quarter of the power consumption.
- M2 chip is built using second-generation 5 nanometer technology and has more than 20bln transistors. MacBook Air will be the first to have the new chip.
MACBOOK:
- New MacBook Pro will be USD 1299 and to be shipped next month.
- New MacBook Air starts from USD 1199
- MacBook Air with M1 chip remains in lineup at USD 999.
IOS:
- Announces iOS 16 with new intelligence and personalisation.
BNPL:
- Announces buy-now pay-later service and payments will be managed through Apple wallet.
- Will also offer merchants order tracking tools to send order tracking information to 'millions of merchants' starting with partners such as Shopify (SHOP).
Tap-to-pay:
- Announces tap to pay on iPhone.
