EUROPEAN FIXED INCOME UPDATE: Gilts extend gains after brief retreat

Analysis details (10:34)

UK debt has come back strongly following a downturn amidst comments from BoE’s Greene that were mainly hawkish in terms of highlighting high earnings, risks of prolonged inflation pressure and the prospect that policy will need to remain restrictive for longer, domestically and abroad. Indeed, Gilts just rebounded from minor new 96.34 Liffe low to fresh 96.74 peak and are hauling their peers up with them as Bunds hover above parity within a 130.56-89 range and the T-note nearer the top of its 108-17/07 extremes. Elsewhere, outperformance in Bonos over OATs reflects relative strength of Spanish and French auctions.
