Apple (AAPL) WWDC: Announces new M2 Ultra chip, which features in new Mac Studio and Mac Pro; announces Apple Vision Pro, its VR headset
MacBook Air:
- Announces 15-inch MacBook Air, powered by M2 processor chip, to cost USD 1,299, while 13-inch to cost USD 1,099.
- Customers can order starting today, with availability beginning Tuesday, June 13th.
M2 Ultra Chip:
- Announces M2 Ultra chip that connects two M2 Max chips together and doubles performance of M2 Max, using a 2nd generation 5nm process.
- Ultra can support 192GB of unified memory.
- With huge performance gains in the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine, combined with memory bandwidth in a single SoC, M2 Ultra is "the world's most powerful chip ever created for a personal computer."
Mac Studio & Mac Pro:
- Mac Studio features M2 Max and the new M2 Ultra.
- Up to 6x faster than the most powerful Intel (INTC)-based 27-inch iMac, and up to 3x faster than the previous-generation Mac Studio with M1 Ultra.
- Mac Pro features M2 Ultra combined with PCIe expansion.
- Mac Pro is up to 3x faster than the previous-generation Intel-based model.
- Mac Studio with M2 Ultra and Mac Pro have far more memory than the most advanced workstation graphics cards, taking on demanding workloads other systems can't even process.
- Mac Pro completes the Mac transition to Apple silicon.
- Mac Studio and Mac Pro are available to order today, with availability beginning Tuesday, June 13th.
