EUROPEAN FIXED INCOME UPDATE: debt futures surpass Friday’s highs
Analysis details (10:33)
Bonds were somewhat hesitant to start with and spent a bit of time digesting rather contrasting EU flash PMIs, but momentum picked up pace via a few stop-driven sprees to see Bunds, Gilts and the 10 year T-note all extend on last week’s recovery highs, at 170.89, 123.71 and 128-18 before a pause for breath. In stark contrast, equities are succumbing to increasingly pronounced selling pressure and dragging oil alongside other commodities down with them to support demand for debt and similar safe-haven instruments ahead of the pm session and return of US participants.
