EUROPEAN FIXED INCOME UPDATE: Bunds lag amidst sea of green
Analysis details (11:27)
The core Eurozone bond remains cautious awaiting what the ECB might have in store to save the periphery from even more pain in terms of financing costs, but debt futures have bounced across the board in largely consolidative trade ahead of the Fed on the basis that the FOMC event may not be as hawkish that it has been built up to be, in the absence of fresh official guidance or reaction to the main catalyst behind the hyped up expectations, CPI. Bunds are just below par between 143.79-25 bounds, Gilts nearer their 122.48 Liffe peak than 111.88 trough and the 10 year T-note also closer to best levels within a 115+06/114-10 overnight range. However, BTPs remain the outperformers, albeit paring some upside from 117.54 to 114.89 at the other extreme vs Tuesday’s 114.61 close.
