EUROPEAN FIXED INCOME UPDATE: bonds bounce firmly to set loftier peaks

Analysis details (10:51)

Bunds may have been encouraged by the fact that 136.00 held on the downside when pressure was building on Eurex earlier, but having breached 137.00 in recent trade it stopped just shy of a more technical hurdle in the form of a Fib retracement level, at 137.14. Meanwhile, Gilts faded at 101.77 and the T-note topped out at 110-06 amidst reports of swap-related hedging in debt due to a hefty corporate deal pipeline. However, the 10 year benchmarks remain well off worst levels of 136.08, 100.60 and 109-24+ respectively ahead of midday in Europe and the US open that returns to its -5 hour time slot from GMT after last week’s 4 hour gap.
