EUROPEAN FIXED INCOME UPDATE: bonds bounce broadly and fairly firmly

Debt futures remain well off recent peaks, but the latest recovery rally has gathered more momentum as Bunds breach a chart hurdle that was holding them back, Gilts reclaim 95.00+ status and the T-note trades just above par. The 10 year benchmarks are all towards the top of 129.89-48, 95.22-94.64 and 107-15/07+ respective ranges, while BTPs are forming a firmer base on the 112.00 handle and outperforming in relief that Fitch affirmed Italy’s BBB rating with a stable outlook and amidst ongoing speculation that the Tesoro might be in a position to repurchase some bonds or conduct an exchange auction, per IFR citing a BBVA research note.
