US Tariffs - President Trump raised average US tariffs globally, while keeping many at 10%, calming investor fears of doubling rates. However, he increased some Canadian tariffs to 35%, heightening trade tensions, with additional hikes affecting countries like Switzerland and New Zealand as part of his ongoing effort to reshape global commerce. Mexico received a 90-day extension of the current tariff rates. -
US-China - China accused the US of exploiting a Microsoft Exchange email server flaw to steal military data and conduct cyberattacks on Chinese defence companies. Amazon (AMZN) - Shares fall in extended trading after guiding Q3 operating income below expectations; slower AWS growth and lack of visible returns from AI investment weighed on sentiment.
