
ASIA-PAC EQUITIES UPDATE: Mixed trade following a similar lead from Wall Street
APAC Stocks: Mixed
- Choppy trade across APAC stocks following a similar session from Wall Street, with news flow overnight on the quieter side as Israel and Iran seemingly continue to observe the ceasefire.
ASX 200: -0.1%
- Subdued by the tech sector, which dragged the index lower despite sectoral outperformance stateside, ASX-listed software giant Xero fell over 7% after announcing its intention to purchase payments provider Melio for some USD 3bln.
Nikkei 225: +1.0%
- Topped 39k for the first time in over a month with the industrial sector spear-heading the gains irrespective of a firmer JPY against the Dollar, with a focus on upcoming US-Japan trade talks after local media earlier in the week touted Japanese Economy Minister Akazawa's visit to Washington as early as June 26th.
Hang Seng & Shanghai Comp: Hang Seng -0.8% , Shanghai Comp U/C
- Mixed amid a lack of newsflow for the region, although Chinese Premier Li reiterated that China's economy shows strong resilience and development potential; economic data shows stability in Q2; will take forceful steps to boost consumption.
US Equity Futures: ES U/C
- Uneventful in horizontal trade, although some downticks were observed as WSJ reported that US President Trump may speed up naming a successor to Fed Chair Powell, which could allow the chair-in-waiting to influence investor expectations ahead of the end of Powell's term.
Euro Stoxx 50 Future: U/C
- Indicative of a flat open with the Euro Stoxx 50 future U/C after cash closed -0.9% on Wednesday.
