ASIA-PAC EQUITIES UPDATE: Asia-Pac stocks are mostly positive but with gains capped amid mass holiday closures
APAC Stocks: Positive
- Asia-Pac stocks are in the green but with gains capped amid the severely thinned conditions owing to mass holiday closures across the region and in Europe for Labour Day.
ASX 200: +0.2%
- Ekes mild gains as the outperformance in tech, real estate and consumer staples is offset by losses across the commodity-related sectors, while data releases were mixed as Australian monthly exports returned to growth but imports contracted.
Nikkei 225: +0.4%
- Advanced at the open after having reclaimed the 36,000 level but with further upside capped heading into the BoJ policy announcement where the central bank is widely anticipated to keep rates unchanged at 0.50% and with a previous source report noting the BoJ is likely to keep its rate-hike signal intact.
US Equity Futures: Positive
- US equity futures were boosted heading into the prior Wall St closing bell and with a further lift seen following strong earnings from Microsoft and Meta.
