Rep. Ritchie Torres calls for probe into futures trades placed ahead March pause on Iran hostilities, via CNBC
- Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., is calling on the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to look into trades in the oil and equity futures markets ahead of a pause in hostilities in Iran last month.
- Torres on Wednesday sent a letter — obtained first by CNBC — to the heads of the SEC and CFTC, highlighting a spike in trades immediately ahead of President Donald Trump’s announcement of a five-day pause on attacks in March.
- Torres earlier this year expressed concerns about the appearance of insider trading on prediction markets ahead of the ouster of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
